2020 Paper with Dr. Julia Hoy

2020: Jon co-authored with Dr Julia Hoy a paper titled Choice, Control and Computers: Empowering Wildlife in Human Care. This is available in a special issue of Multimodal Technologies and Interaction titled Animal Centred Computing: Enriching the lives of animals edited by Dr Ann Morrison. The purpose of this paper is to advance animal-computer interaction (ACI) opportunities by encouraging creative interaction among information technology (IT) designers and animal care specialists in zoos, aquariums, animal sanctuaries and animal research colonies. While not a computer system design specialist, Jon’s long and deep experience in designing physical and management environments benefiting animal wellbeing is providing timely opportunities to collaborate with explorers and pioneers of new technology. This paper has been very well received in the ACI field.
